What's the difference between a Baking Kit and a Cooking Kit?

Our baking kits are the perfect way to introduce children to the kitchen. Simple recipes, no processed ingredients, delicious bakes and plenty of spoon-licking.

Our savoury cooking kits teach children how to make dinner for the whole family! Each kit explores a superhero vegetable and will teach little cooks how to grow, nurture and harvest it - while teaching essential cooking skills for life! 

Both options are the same price but you get to choose which is the right option for your Little Cook.

What do I get in the Little Cooks Combo kit?

With our Little Cooks Co Combo Kit you get double the fun and double the learning! Each month you'll receive both a Savoury Cooking and a Baking kit. Perfect for keen chefs wanting to tackle a whole meal including a yummy pud! Our combo kit also works brilliantly for siblings!

What ages are the kits aimed at?

Our kits are designed for children aged 3 – 10 years old. Younger children will require more support and older children will be able to make most recipes independently. You’ll know best what level your little cook is at but we design the recipes to ensure there is something fun for everyone, even the grown-ups! Our savoury cooking kits offer the opportunity to go beyond baking, learning delicious and nutritious meals they can take into adulthood.

What is the shelf life of each box?

Each kit has a shelf life of at least 3 months. This means you can pop the box in the cupboard until it suits you, rather than feel pressured to make it as soon as it arrives through the letterbox. They make a perfect rainy day activity!

Do I need any special equipment?

The only special equipment we suggest is a blender or food processor to blitz nuts into flour or dates into caramel! Other than that just the kitchen basics such as mixing bowls, spatulas and measuring spoons. We sell a range of colourful child-friendly baking and cooking equipment on our Little Shop.

Do I need additional ingredients?

Your Little Cooks Co box contains all the dry ingredients you need to make the recipe. There are always a few fresh or seasonal ingredients required in addition, for example milk, butter/oil, honey or a seasonal vegetable or fruit.

At the beginning of each month you will receive an email letting you know the additional ingredients that are required in that month's box.

If there is something you can’t get hold of, just email us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk and we will help you find an alternative ingredient that will make sure the baking fun can continue!

Will my child need help making the recipes?

Yes, though how much depends on your child’s age and ability. You will be the best judge of how much help your little cook will need but we come from the philosophy of trusting kids to know their limits and to ask for help when they need it. Having said that you should supervise at all times and give particular assistance when using the oven/hob and knives. Check out our blog on cooking skills by age for a bit more info on this.

What if my child has allergies?

All of the ingredients in our kits are dairy free, meat free and wheat free, and we only use gluten-free oats.

We email all customers at the beginning of each month with the equipment and ingredients required as well as the details of any allergens, so that you have the opportunity to plan that month. We will always try our best to find an alternative or we can always skip a month for you - just get in touch at support@littlecooksco.co.uk

Please note that our kits are packed in an environment that handles gluten, as well as cereals, nuts (including peanuts), soya and sesame). As much as we would love to give guarantees on this we are currently unable to so we would always advise you to err on the side of caution.

Do your kits contain soy?

No. None of the ingredients we include in the kits contain soy.


However, please note, ingredients are packed on premises that handle gluten, as well as cereals, nuts (including peanuts), soya and sesame).

Are your kits nut free?

Our kits occasionally use nuts in the ingredients we send out and all the ingredients in our kits are packed in a premises that handles cereals, nuts (including peanuts), soya, sesame and products containing gluten). We send an email out with a list of allergens before sending out that month’s kit to the little cook.

Please note: if nuts are not mentioned as a specific allergen, remember our kits are still packed in premises that handle nuts so we can never guarantee they are 100% nut free.

Are your kits vegetarian?

All our baking and savoury cooking recipes are vegetarian. We do include a recipe card for a Healthy Family Meal each month and that may include fish or meat as an ingredient but what we include in the box will only ever be vegetarian.

What makes your cookery kits healthy?

We are passionate about the principles we apply to the ingredients we use in our kits.

Food should be eaten in the most natural state possible and organic is best for health and the planet.

When it comes to sugars, it means that we use naturally occurring sugars such as honey, maple syrup or dates to sweeten the recipes in our baking kits, rather than refined sugars that contain little or no nutritional benefit.

It is also why you will find ingredients like gram flour in our kits which is actually dried chickpeas that have simply been ground into flour – fibre rich and packed with nutrients!

We know that organic isn’t always available or affordable. But it is a value we aren’t prepared to sacrifice in our baking and cooking kits.

What are the table talk cards?

These are fun questions and games to play together at the dinner table! We believe that making meal times fun is all part of how to empower children to live healthy, happy lives.

You will receive 3 table talk cards in each box. The first kit includes an easy open ring to collect them on.

When will my little cook receive their level 1/2/3/4 awards?

A badge will be included in your 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th cooking kits. If your little cook reaches their 4th level and has completed their record book each month then we will reward them with a special certificate!

Looking after our planet

Is the packaging recyclable?

Yes! We take our commitment to the environment very seriously and take a great deal of pride in ensuring our packaging meets the highest standards. All our ingredients bags are compostable so you can just pop them straight in with your food waste, and all our boxes, paper and card is recyclable and sourced sustainably.

Do your shop products contain plastic?

We prioritise sustainability in all our products and packaging. There are occasional products on our shop that contain plastic, for example the laminated coating on the placemats and the pens we send for children to use with the placemats and wall charts.

We thought long and hard about these decisions and concluded the fact that these products are long-lasting and reusable, rather than being single use, disposable items, minimises their environmental impact. Our product development team never sits still however, and we are determined to find a fully recyclable alternative!

Our utensils are made from silicone which is more environmentally friendly than plastic in kitchen accessories, as plastic is not as hardy or long lasting as silicone is — and silicone is more inert that plastic, which means it has a lower chance of leaching chemicals into food when used for food storage. Using silicone in kitchenware is a good option as long as you maintain it to ensure it has a long lifespan, and do your best to recycle it once you can no longer use it.

How do I make sure my box arrives on a specific date?

Our gift plans allow you to select a specific date for shipping the first cooking kit.

If you want the box to arrive for a birthday or another special day, please go to our Gift a Box page, choose the length of plan, and select the shipping date you require.

Please remember that we recommend the shipping date is set as 5-7 days before your desired delivery, just to be safe!

Can I give a subscription as a gift?

Our cooking kits make a fantastic gift, as recognised by winning an award for Gift of the Year in 2019 and 2020 (we're hoping we can make it a hat-trick!). Just select ‘Gift a Box on the homepage and tell us the name of the lucky little cook who will be receiving it.

If you are sending a gift for a special occasion please remember to select a shipping date 5-7 days before you would like it to arrive.

How do I place an order for multiple gifts?

It is so important to us that your gifts arrive with the right gift notes attached.  Because of the way we prepare our gift orders and handwrite every note we ask that each gift order is placed as a single order. This means they are assigned a unique order number and there is no chance of a mix-up.  As postage is free this won’t cost you any more but does make sure we get all the details right!

If you wish to purchase multiple gifts please place the first order and wait for the confirmation email to arrive – there may be a little surprise there for you!

Should I include the gift recipient’s email in my order?

We would recommend you provide the gift recipient’s email address so we can send useful information on allergens and ingredients. No contact will be made until the first kit has been delivered – we don’t want to ruin the surprise!

I love your baking kits and would really like to try a savoury cooking kit!

Absolutely! Simply log in to your account area and add a savoury kit to your subscription!

I've been enjoying my baking subscription but would like to swap to a savoury cooking subscription

You can swap your subscription in your account area once you're logged on to our website. Simply click on your current subscription and select 'swap product'. You can always contact us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk if you need any help!

Managing your subscription

I can't log in to my account?

We’ve improved our account pages! If you're logging in for the first time since our fancy updates you'll need to reset your password here. Please get in touch with us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk if you have any issues at all and we'd be happy to help!

How do I skip a box?

If you'd like to skip a month for whatever reason, just get in touch with us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk and we'll be happy to arrange! Just make sure you allow plenty of time before your renewal. You can find your renewal date in your account pages!

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You are not locked into anything and can cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your account or contacting us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk.

Our subscription plans do automatically renew but if a payment goes through without you wanting it to just contact us as soon as possible and we will refund you in full if the kit hasn’t already been sent out to you.

If you are part way through a subscription plan and want to cancel we will refund based on the value of the remaining months.

We will never make you recieve kits you don’t want!

Can I cancel 3, 6 & 12 month subscriptions?

If you’ve paid for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription it can be skipped at anytime, meaning we will cancel the next automatic renewal of your subscription. If you want to cancel mid-subscription, for example, if you are moving away, please just let us know – we will never make you receive boxes you don’t want and will refund you the difference!

We’ve loved our Gift Subscription, how do we continue?

We’re so glad you’ve loved it! And fear not, we can make sure your journey continues seamlessly so your little cook receives the right badge levels at the right time! You can place an order here for a rolling monthly subsription or for 3, 6, or 12 month plans and once you’ve placed your order, just drop us a line at support@littlecooksco.co.uk with your order number and we will do the rest!

How do I switch my baking subscription to a savoury cooking subscription?

You can swap your subscription in your account area once you're logged on to our website. Simply click on your current subscription and select 'swap product'. You can always contact us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk if you need any help!

Delivery info

How do I order for Christmas?

Orders placed after Friday 17th December will be sent after we return from our Christmas break on the 4th January.

If you would like to order a gift plan as a Christmas gift that starts in January, we will be happy to send you a personalised gift voucher to put under the tree! Simply order as normal via our Gifts page then email us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk to arrange your gift voucher.

If you have a renewal order due over the Christmas period your order will be sent out as close as possible to your usual renewal date (Christmas permitting!)

Finally, please remember that the postal services are under a lot of pressure at this time of year so please be patient and if possible order early! If you're worried about your Christmas delivery arriving in time please email us and we will be happy to send a gift voucher to minimise disappointment! support@littlecooksco.co.uk

When will my order arrive?

If you select standard shipping your order will be sent out by Royal Mail 2nd class post within 2-3 days of your order being placed (unless you have selected a specific shipping date).

If you select Express Shipping we will send your first delivery Royal Mail first class.  Order before 1pm and your cooking kit will be sent out first class the next working day (estimated delivery time 1-2 working days) If you are ordering a subscription, subsequent kits will be dispatched second class, on or close to the monthly anniversary date of the plan.

Shop items are sent via a Royal Mail tracked service and you will receive a tracking number via email or text message (if you’ve provided a phone number)

Please be aware that as much as we would love to, we cannot guarantee the speed of the postal service and particularly during these uncertain times postal services are experiencing bottlenecks in some areas.  We will always try our best, just like your postie!

How will my order be delivered to me?

All our cooking kits have standard postage built into the price. We send our cooking kits via Royal Mail, second class post as standard. We give you the option at checkout to select Express Shipping so if you need a cooking kit sent in a hurry, select this option and it will be sent Royal Mail first class. Our cooking kits are specially designed to fit through your letter box so no need to sign for them.

If you are ordering from our shop we add a small shipping charge at checkout. Our shop items are all sent through a Royal Mail tracked service and you will receive an email or text message alert to update you on the progress of your shop items.

Does the kit fit through the letterbox?

Yes, our cooking kits are specially designed to fit through the letterbox. The only time they won’t is if you have ordered additional shop items.

Do you ship outside the UK?

We began shipping to Europe mid-way through 2020. Complications related to Brexit and the tax payable on UK exports has have led us to the decision to pause our international shipping. We know there are only a few existing customers affected by this decision and we will be in touch with each of you individually.We hope to be able to restart our international shipping later in 2021. How is Little Cooks Co responding to Coronavirus?

In practical terms, as much as possible, it is business as usual for Little Cooks Co.

All our boxes are packed to the highest possible hygiene standards and our team is following the same comprehensive advice and processes as all food suppliers.

Our boxes are delivered via Royal Mail and we are monitoring the advice regarding post services and deliveries closely. Some delays have been reported in pockets of the country as Coronavirus has put local postal services under pressure.  If you are ever concerned about your order arriving please email us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk and we will do what we can to help.

As a food delivery service, we have been able to continue fulfilling orders throughout the global pandemic and do not anticipate this changing.

Our office team is mainly made up of parents with young children, who work from home most of the time, so we already have the processes in place to ensure business continuity. If you have any specific questions please contact us at support@littlecooksco.co.uk

Do you have a refer a friend scheme?

We love it when your friends become our friends!

For every friend you refer who signs up you receive £10 credit in your accountYour friend will receive 50% off their first kit (worth £6.50).

Your credit can be used on shop items or it will be automatically be applied to your next renewal (if you have a subscription which is set to renew).

To find your unique referral code simply log into My Account and then select the ‘refer a friend’ tab at the bottom of the page.

This page displays your code and you can either email it using the form on the page, share it on social media or send it to friends yourself.
