No refined sugar, packed full of nutritious ingredients! These delicious alternatives to a traditional chocolate bar taste just as good as their well-known namesake!
We made these a few weeks ago and I think if we’d performed a blind-folded test, it would have been hard to tell the difference with the shop bought variety!
Ingredients
6 Medjool dates (1 date = 1 snack so make as many snacks as you’d like)
6 tsps nut butter
Small handful of hazelnuts or peanuts
4 large squares of dark chocolate (or make your own with 40g butter/coconut oil, 20g honey, 10g cacao powder)
Pop some parchment paper in a small baking tin that will fit in the freezer
Gently slice the top of each date and remove the pips
Add a teaspoon of nut butter into each date and place them in your baking tin
Bash some peanuts or hazelnuts into small pieces with a rolling pin and sprinkle the tops of the dates with them
Melt your dark chocolate or make your own by gently melting the butter and then whisking in the honey and cacao powder
Pour the chocolate over the top of each date, trying to cover as much as possible of each date with chocolate, and then pop in the freezer for 30 mins to set
Eat straight away or store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week
